Custom silicone ice sphere molds: halves, fill ports, and registration

Sphere ice fails on misaligned halves and fill-port nubs. Spec keys, a small port, and a tray you can carry full of water. Platinum RTV. MOQ 20.

An ice sphere is two hemispheres that have to close on the same equator, fill without a giant nub, and peel without cracking the ball. Don't buy a floppy one-piece "sphere tray" from a photo and hope the equator disappears. Registration keys stop the halves from walking; a small fill port (not a garden hose) keeps the nub where you can knock it off. RUUIPON pours platinum RTV sphere tools in Bao'an since 2018: master, box, A/B, vacuum degas, keys, lid or jacket. Prototype in 3-7 business days after CAD lock so you can freeze and peel for real. MOQ 20 pcs/design. 21 CFR 177.2600 is extraction of the article, not an FDA-approved factory. The ice hub is custom silicone ice molds. Branded cubes: logo ice molds.

Registration before Shore A

Send finished sphere diameter (often ~50-60 mm from the glass, not a stock SKU), cavity count, whether staff carry a full tray, lid vs open, and logo if any. Halves that assemble 180 degrees wrong are a shop-floor defect. Use an odd key layout or a unique pip. See split lines and keys.

A fill port that is too large prints a nipple on every sphere. Put it at the equator or a pole you can dress. Don't vent through the show face.

Water weight and freeze expansion

A six-up 50 mm sphere tray is kilograms of water. Loaded sag without support is about 0.5-1.5 mm at the edge - oval balls and spill between sink and freezer. Options: firmer 30A-40A walls, thicker border, lid, or a rigid support tray. Don't specify 10A thinking softness solves a lock; a sphere vacuum-locks if draft is greedy.

Ice is aqueous contact at cold temperature. Name the market and color. Don't reuse a resin skin.

When this sphere advice does not apply

Open cubes without a brand belong on the ice hub. Logo-first cubes belong on logo ice. Housewares LSR trays sold as molded parts go to wydsilicone.com. A one-cavity tasting-menu sphere can skip multi-cavity. Geometry can override quantity: a locked mascot sphere still needs draft or a split at 40 trays.

If you only have photos, custom 3D modeling is USD $50 when that scope applies.

Ice-sphere RFQ to copy

  • Process: platinum RTV food-contact two-part or lidded sphere
  • Finished diameter and glassware fit
  • Key layout; fill-port location and max nub
  • Bar vs retail (lid, stack)
  • Tray size; support tray yes/no
  • Logo: outlined vectors if branded
  • Market; 177.2600 / LFGB
  • Custom 3D modeling: USD $50 when that scope applies
  • Prototype freeze + peel, then MOQ 20 pcs/design

Send diameter, handling notes, and whether halves must be operator-proof to contact ([email protected] / +86 135 3006 2969). Licheng Technology Industry Park, Xinhe Blvd, Shajing, Baoan.

Matched CTA: Send sphere diameter, fill-port photos, and how staff carry the full tray - not a generic free quote.

We would not recommend a floppy 10A water tray for a 2-inch sphere

We would not recommend a fill port that prints a marble-sized nub. We would not skip keys and then blame the bartender for mismatch. We would not call 177.2600 an FDA-approved factory. We would not treat a chocolate bomb tool as an ice sphere without a freeze test.

RUUIPON Mold Structure Decision: two-part keyed sphere if the equator must shut. Fill port small and off the show face. Large water fill? mother mold, lid, or rigid support before you add cavities.

FAQ

Why are my sphere halves misaligned? Keys are missing, too shallow, or can assemble backwards. Dry-fit empty, then freeze. Recut keys; don't just go firmer.

Can you hide the equator completely? On a full sphere, no. You can hide it in cloudy ice or dress a small nub. If zero witness is a CTQ, say so.

Do I need a lid? Retail kits often yes. Bar trays often want stack and speed. Tell us the environment.

Are ice molds FDA-approved? No factory stamp. 21 CFR 177.2600 is extraction of the finished article.

How fast is a prototype I can freeze? Commonly 3-7 business days after CAD lock. Freeze and peel before MOQ 20.
