Most buyers ask this first

RTV or HTV - which mold process fits your job?

Liquid pour around a master is not the same as compression-molded silicone. Read the buyer guide before you freeze tooling.

What you buy on this site

What you're actually buying

The object is a poured tool: master, mold box, A/B mix, vacuum degas, cavity, registration keys, and usually a support jacket. You dump chocolate, pectin, resin, wax, or soap into that cavity. A PDF full of cold-runners and heated manifolds is a molded silicone part quote - that PO belongs on wydsilicone.com.

What that cavity dumps

Most inquiries are not "make this shape." They're:

  • 1

Will a sticky pectin gummy leave without stretching the tray?

  • 2

How deep can a logo go before thin letters tear on demold?

  • 3

Does this deep candle or resin part need a one-piece glove, a keyed split, or a skin plus mother mold?

  • 4

How many cavities fit before the sheet sags when every pocket is full?

  • 5

Which Shore A range flexes enough without losing size?

  • 6

Does this food job need 177.2600, LFGB, both, or neither?

Those are cheaper to settle before anyone weighs A/B. We work from STEP/STL, a drawing, a physical sample, or measured photos.

Don't mix three quotes

Common mix-up: RTV vs HTV vs LSR

Liquid pour around a master is not compression-molded silicone, and it is not LSR injection. A Shore number without chemistry is noise.

Buyer checklist

What to ask when you're buying this mold

  1. 01 · Object

Is the quote for a poured RTV cavity I'll cast into, or for a molded silicone part?

  2. 02 · Master

Who makes and who keeps the master, and may the shop keep a copy for recasts?

  3. 03 · Structure

One-piece, keyed split, inner core - and is there a rigid jacket?

  4. 04 · Chemistry

Platinum or tin, and which food-contact path if the face touches food (177.2600 and/or LFGB / BfR XV)?

  5. 05 · Volume

Cavity grams or fill weight, first lot, monthly dumps, and is a recast of the skin in the price?

If the quote only says "custom silicone mold" and a number, you're not comparing the same job. Paying a tooling charge does not, by itself, give you unrestricted ownership of master, jacket, or CAD.

Who this site is for

Who buys from RUUIPON

  • Etsy & Shopify sellers

Launch a signature shape without factory MOQs of 1,000-5,000. First trays start at MOQ 20 per design.

  • Food & confectionery brands

Logo chocolate bars, branded gummies, and bakery molds with food-grade silicone and certs.

  • Candle, soap & fragrance makers

  • OEM / private-label buyers

DFM review, prototype approval, then production tooling with QC and global shipping options.

Multi-cavity pectin gummy tray example

Worked example

12-cavity 18 mm bear, about 2,000 dumps a month

Food-contact pectin, target about 4.0 g. The RTV job is a CNC or fully post-cured SLA master, platinum A/B, Shore 10A-20A skin, rigid jacket so the loaded edge does not sag 0.5-1.5 mm, then a water-volume map before MOQ 20. A recast of the face after a logo change is usually cheaper than a new master if the jacket still keys.

A PDF with heaters and a cold-runner is a molded part. It will not dump pectin.

Wrong quote

When this homepage is the wrong quote

Thousands of vulcanized silicone parts, LSR injection, or high-volume steel gummy depositing tools belong on a parts OEM or wydsilicone.com. A catalog ice cube that already matches the pocket is also the wrong spend.

Geometry can override quantity: a one-off deep-undercut resin figurine is still RTV at 20 pieces; 10,000 identical spatulas are not.

Do not send

We would not take a generic free-quote brief

  • A photo titled "silicone mold" with no pour and no quantity.
  • Raising Shore A first to stiffen a floppy sheet - add a jacket or cut cavities.
  • An LSR spatula PDF as 177.2600 on this RTV cavity.
  • Cutting LSR steel "so we can scale later" while you still need to dump pectin.

Structure

RUUIPON mold structure decision

Walk the three questions. Do not paste a mermaid chart into the RFQ.

  1. Ask 1

    Flat back?

    Yes: Open-back RTV

    No: Check undercuts next

  2. Ask 2

    Deep undercuts?

Yes: Two-part, plug, or inner core

    No: Open-back can still peel

  3. Ask 3

Large wet dump or soft Shore?

    Yes: Mother mold / jacket

No: Tiny shallow tray can stand alone

Materials & quality

Silicone grades built for your casting process

The right silicone grade and Shore A hardness protect detail, demolding speed, and food-contact compliance - we specify both during DFM, not after tooling.

Platinum-cure silicone

Low shrinkage, long shelf life, and clean release - preferred for resin, crafts, and most production molds.

Food-grade silicone

Formulated for chocolate, candy, baking, and ice contact. FDA and LFGB documentation available on request.

Shore A hardness matching

Softer grades for deep undercuts; firmer grades for sharp edges, multi-cavity trays, and high-cycle demolding.

Multi-cavity & production tooling

From single-cavity prototypes to multi-cavity trays sized for your fill weight and packaging line.

Get a quote faster

What to send for an accurate custom mold quote

Complete briefs get clearer pricing and fewer revision loops. Include as much of the checklist below as you can - even a sketch is enough to start.

1

Design file or reference

STEP, STL, AI, PDF, photo of a sample, or a rough sketch - we can refine CAD with you.

2

Target material to cast

Resin, chocolate, gummy, wax, soap, dough, plaster, or another compound - this drives silicone grade.

3

Quantity & timeline

Prototype only, first production run, or ongoing OEM. Share target ship date if you have one.

4

Certification needs

FDA, LFGB, or none. Food-contact vs craft use changes material and documentation.

Decision guide

Custom silicone molds vs off-the-shelf

Off-the-shelf molds win on speed and low upfront cost for generic shapes. Custom molds win when branding, cavity consistency, or production layout matters - logo bars, signature resin forms, multi-cavity trays matched to fill weight, and private-label packaging.

If you are launching a differentiated product or scaling past one-off crafts, custom tooling usually pays back in fewer rejects, clearer brand identity, and repeatable output.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about custom silicone molds

Straight answers on MOQ, lead time, food-grade options, files, and shipping - the questions buyers ask before requesting a quote.

What is the MOQ for custom silicone molds?

Our standard MOQ is 20 pieces per design. Smaller test runs may be possible - contact us with project details.

How long does a custom silicone mold take?

Prototypes typically ship in 3-7 business days after design approval. Production is usually 2-4 weeks depending on cavities and quantity.

Can you make food-safe silicone molds?

Yes. We use platinum-cure food-grade silicone and can supply FDA and LFGB documentation for chocolate, candy, baking, and ice applications.

What files do I need for a quote?

STEP/STL is ideal. We also work from PDF drawings, AI/SVG logos, photos of physical samples, or hand sketches. Share the material you will cast and target quantity.

Custom silicone molds vs off-the-shelf - which should I buy?

Buy off-the-shelf for generic shapes and fast retail availability. Choose custom when you need a logo, unique geometry, consistent cavity weight, or brand differentiation. See our full comparison guide on the blog.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We ship worldwide from Shenzhen with FOB, EXW, or DDP options. Lead times and duties depend on destination and Incoterms.

What silicone hardness (Shore A) do I need?

It depends on undercuts, detail, and demolding force. Soft grades suit deep undercuts; firmer grades suit sharp edges and multi-cavity production trays. We recommend hardness during DFM review.

Do you compete with large gummy factories?

RUUIPON focuses on custom design, low MOQ, and multi-category molds (resin, candle, chocolate, baking, crafts). For high-volume gummy steel mold production, see our sister site wydsilicone.com.
