Silicone Logo and Branding on the RTV Master, Not on a Part

A logo on a custom RTV silicone mold is a fill problem, a tear problem, and a master-finish problem. If you're putting a brand into chocolate, soap, gummy, ice, resin, or wax, the art lives on the master: outlined vectors, a stated depth in millimetres, raised or recessed on the finished dump, off the parting line. A platinum RTV cavity peels a mark that an LSR steel tool must eject - and that steel is a different parts quote. If the RFQ says "add our logo" with a PNG and no depth, the shop will guess.

Silicone Logo and Branding on the RTV Master, Not on a Part

RUUIPON, Bao'an since 2018. Custom/simple 3D modeling is USD $50 when that scope applies. Prototype 3-7 business days after CAD lock. MOQ 20 pieces per design. Capability page: custom logo molds. Process gate: logo depth mm lock. Catalog: process catalog. Pad-print on a molded silicone *part* → an HTV product RFQ here.

Raised, recessed, and print are three different tools

Recessed in the dump (raised on the master). The pour must fill a pocket in the RTV. Fine serifs starve. Recessed marks on chocolate or gummy hide some wear.

Raised in the dump (sunk in the cavity). Reads well; takes abrasion; can tear a 10A-20A lip on a stretchy undercut; leaks if you park it on a sealing face.

Pad-print or screen. Ink on the finished piece or the carton. Don't draw print as engraved master. Don't call pad-print "embossed."

Pick one on the 2D. Mixing "molded-in look, but we will print if it is hard" is how you pay for both.

Common mix-up: branding as a parts decoration menu

Live templated copy offered laser, print, and molded color as if this were an OEM goods line. On this shop, branding is cavity art. Laser on a spatula is a different RFQ - ask us. Molded-in color of a *part* is a different RFQ - ask us. Tray tint is color matching.

Depth and draft the rubber will actually fill

Hairlines that look sharp in Illustrator become trenches the dump won't enter. Give serifs width, depth, and a few degrees of draft. About 0.3 mm minimum feature is a common conversation; 0.4 mm recessed brand is a common food-mold start - not a promise every font survives. Undercut in a serif (a "V" that closes) will tear a soft lip. Fillet the root. Keep the mark off the parting land.

Dump material changes the same logo: pectin is sticky; tempered chocolate traps in deep trenches; CP soap can lock a deep deboss; resin copies a lock. Don't send one logo pack for all five.

Failure: PNG, no depth, seam through the wordmark

Symptom: Washed letters after temper; torn islands on pull 5; flash shearing the brand; print specified as "embossed."

Confirm: Outlined vectors? Depth in mm? Off parting? Real dump on the prototype?

Fix: Lock depth on the 2D. Move the split. Recast against the unsanded master. Don't sand the pattern "to clean it up."

Worked example: 0.4 mm recessed bar brand, chocolate

8-cavity 120 × 60 × 12 mm bar, outlined wordmark, 0.4 mm recessed in the dump, off the equator split, platinum food-contact path, prototype dump in their temper 3-7 days after CAD lock, then MOQ 20. Custom 3D USD $50 because they had art, not a cavity STEP. A PNG email would have guessed 0.2 mm and washed after two tempers.

What to ask when you're buying cavity branding

  • Raised or recessed in the dump, depth in mm?
  • Outlined vectors, min stroke, off parting?
  • Which dump - pectin, chocolate, soap, resin - on this SKU?
  • Recast against unsanded master if letters tear?
  • Print on carton instead if the serif cannot peel?

When this page is the wrong menu

Pad-print on a catalog tray whose pocket already matches: don't buy a custom master. Logo on a vulcanized silicone *part*: an HTV product or mold RFQ here, or ask us if you need a high-volume LSR cold-runner tool. A one-off resin figurine can take a shallow peel mark without production draft. Geometry can override quantity: a negative-draft letter at 80 pours still needs the split off that face.

Related: chocolate, soap, gummy, contact.

We would not recommend a PNG with no depth

We would not recommend parking a wordmark on the shut. We would not recommend calling pad-print "embossed." We would not recommend sanding the master to clean letters. We would not recommend one logo pack for pectin and epoxy.

RUUIPON Mold Structure Decision:

  1. Molded-in or print? - print/carton -> Carton / pad-print - not this master
  2. Molded-in or print? - in the dump -> Depth mm + draft
  3. Depth mm + draft -> Undercut serif or two-sided?
  4. Undercut serif or two-sided? - yes -> Split off the face
  5. Undercut serif or two-sided? - no -> Open-back OK
  6. Split off the face -> CAD lock / 3-7 day prototype
  7. Open-back OK -> CAD lock / 3-7 day prototype

FAQ

Can you hide the seam and keep a two-sided logo? Usually no. Split off the brand face or accept cleanup.

Minimum letter size? About 0.3 mm feature is a conversation starter, not a guarantee. Soap vs chocolate vs resin disagree.

Is branding the same as color matching? No. Branding is geometry on the master. Color is tray tint.

Who keeps the unsanded master? Write it. Recast needs that pattern.

MOQ / prototype / 3D? 20 per design; 3-7 days after lock; USD $50 when simple 3D applies.
