One-Piece vs Split Silicone Mold DFM Review
Send the current CAD, sample or measured images and identify the casting material.
RUUIPON reviews the release path and recommends whether the mold should be:

- removable plug/core
- flexible skin with rigid support shell
The purpose is to define the mold structure before the master and prototype are committed.

When a One-Piece Mold May Fit
A one-piece mold may fit when:
- one side is open
- release path is clear
- undercuts are manageable
- the casting survives peel
- filled support is adequate
When a Split May Fit
A split may fit when:
- full 3D geometry exists on multiple sides
- severe undercuts are present
- casting is fragile
- seam can be placed on an acceptable surface
- operator release improves significantly
Plug or Core
A plug/core can isolate trapped local geometry.
A rigid support shell can stabilize a flexible mold under filled load.
These are not “extra features” for every project; they are selected only when the geometry needs them.
Depending on project complexity, provide:
- annotated screenshot/drawing
- marked undercuts
- recommended release direction
- parting-line proposal
- structure recommendation
- missing-input list
- prototype validation points
The output is an annotated release-path review unless a formal engineering report is agreed in the quotation.
Can several different plaster figures share one multi-cavity mold?
Sometimes. We review depth, release path, fragility and handling before grouping different parts.
Can you choose the split from a physical sculpture?
Yes. Photos can start the review; the physical master is helpful for complex surfaces.
Do I need a rigid shell for a tall figurine mold?
Not automatically. Support depends on mold height, flexibility and filled load.
Is the review free?
Initial DFM can be free. CAD/modification work may be chargeable.
Is softer silicone always better for undercuts?
No.
