At small gummy scale, every detail competes with:

  • formula viscosity;
  • trapped air;
  • feature width;
  • cavity depth;
  • gummy shrink/drying;
  • demolding stretch;
  • final consumer viewing distance.

The correct logo is not the deepest logo. It is the smallest geometry that fills completely, releases cleanly and remains recognizable after the real gummy process.

Start from the finished gummy size

Before discussing logo depth, define:

  • finished gummy width/height;
  • target grams;
  • visible logo area;
  • whether logo is on a flat or curved face;
  • raised vs recessed result;
  • minimum brand elements that must remain.

Scale the vector artwork to the actual product size.

Do not approve the logo while zoomed to 800% on a monitor.

Print or render it at 1:1 scale.

The mold contains a recessed logo pocket.

Risks:

  • pectin/gelatin does not fully enter narrow strokes;
  • air stays at the bottom of letters;
  • deep pockets trap residue;
  • sharp corners fill poorly.

Risks:

  • thin silicone islands tear;
  • letters bend during demolding;
  • sticky gummy pulls the island sideways;
  • aggressive brushing damages the feature.

Choose the failure mode you can control more reliably.

Minimum feature width is not one universal number

The practical limit depends on:

  • logo depth;
  • font geometry;
  • formula;
  • surface finish;
  • Shore;
  • mold release path;
  • actual gummy size.

A 0.3 mm line might work in one shallow feature and fail as a 1.0 mm-deep vertical island.

Instead of publishing a hard minimum, prototype the smallest high-risk serif or gap.

Depth should be proportional to the visual requirement

Deepening a logo can improve shadow/readability up to a point.

Past that point it can:

  • increase air trapping;
  • increase demold lock;
  • weaken silicone islands;
  • make cleaning harder;
  • distort the gummy face.

For a small nutraceutical gummy, a shallow clean mark may read better than a deep complex mark.

Corner radius is often invisible but valuable

Sharp vector corners can become stress concentrators.

Small fillets can:

  • improve gummy flow;
  • reduce trapped air;
  • strengthen silicone roots;
  • reduce tear initiation;
  • improve cleaning.

The brand remains recognizable while the mold becomes more production-friendly.

Formula viscosity controls fill completeness

A thin test liquid is a poor logo-validation material.

Use the production formula because it determines whether narrow letters fill.

Record:

  • deposit temperature;
  • formula family;
  • shot method;
  • whether the cavity is hand-filled or depositor-filled;
  • air/bubble behavior.

A logo that fills in water can still starve in gummy mass.

Demolding is where thin islands fail

Watch the actual peel.

If the operator must stretch a silicone letter sideways to release the gummy, the design is marginal.

Possible fixes:

  • reduce depth;
  • thicken stroke;
  • add radius;
  • change Shore;
  • move the logo to a flatter face;
  • alter peel direction;
  • split a complex shape differently.

Do not rely on release spray as the first correction.

Weight control and logo volume interact

A logo changes cavity volume.

On a 2-5 g gummy, a deep brand mark can be a meaningful percentage of the total geometry.

If piece weight is critical:

  1. finalize the logo geometry;
  2. recalculate cavity volume;
  3. recalibrate the finished-weight trial;
  4. lock the cavity only after real-formula validation.

Do not finalize grams before adding the final brand relief.

Prototype readability should use objective criteria

Useful acceptance questions:

  • Can the brand be identified at normal viewing distance?
  • Are all critical letters complete?
  • Are counters/open spaces visible?
  • Is the logo centered after shrink/drying?
  • Does the silicone show tearing/whitening?
  • Does the feature remain intact after repeated demolds?
  • Is cleaning practical?

Take macro photos under the same lighting.

Relationship to P43

P43 should be the general logo authority across soap, chocolate, resin, ice, wax and gummy.

P49 is different:

small gummy scale + viscous formula + weight calibration + sticky demolding
