CNC Master to Silicone Pour: How a Cavity Tool Is Actually Built
You are not buying a machined chocolate bar. You are buying the cavity tool you pour with: millimetres, master, platinum pour, vacuum, your test cast. If a quote talks like finished goods at MOQ 300, you are on the wrong page.

What you are buying (cavity tool, not finished goods)

You are not buying 500 packed gummies. You are buying trays that hold cavities. If a quote talks like a finished-goods OEM at MOQ 300-1000, you are on the wrong page.
RUUIPON has made custom silicone molds in Shenzhen since 2018 for brands and makers. MOQ 20 trays per design. Prototype commonly 3-7 business days after CAD lock. About 24 hours on a complete RFQ. Drawing deposit about $50 USD when we must model cavities.
Sister-brand plant copy (depositor, starch mogul, steel-first) is a different lane. We will not paste that outline here with a logo swap.
Build chain from RFQ to a sheet you can restock
Skip a gate and you pay in scrap or a CAD reopen. We would rather delay a lock than ship a hooked bail as a one-piece tray.
- 01
Measurable RFQ
mm units, pour, peak C, OD or grams, food vs craft. The 24h clock does not start on a marble flat-lay.
- 02
DFM screenshot
Undercuts, island meat, split vs one-piece. You agree before CAD lock.
- 03
CAD lock
This starts the 3-7 day prototype band. Not the first WhatsApp hello.
- 04
Master
We cut a master that matches the locked millimetres, with shrink compensation when we have a solid (~0.1% typical for platinum).
- 05
Platinum pour + vacuum
Production sheets are not tin hobby blocks. Bubbles become SKU defects on clear resin and shallow logos.
- 06
Your pour, then yes/no
Test cast in your chemistry. Production MOQ 20 after you approve, not after a hero photo.
File rules that keep the master from being 25.4 times too big
Export from CAD in millimetres. Put units in the filename. Do not scale in a slicer and send us the print file as if it were the master.
| You send | What we do |
|---|---|
| STEP/STL, units mm written in the email | Compare bounding box to your OD |
| STL silent on units | Clock stops |
| Inch file + intended 18 mm earring | We catch 25.4x and wait for written OK |
| Screenshot of a competitor tray | No. Not your IP |
| Ruler photo in plane of the part | Usable if no CAD yet |
Master work and shrink - numbers, not adjectives
Shrink is compensated in CAD when we have a solid. Typical platinum note is about 0.1%. That is not a promise your chocolate will hit +/- 0.05 g if your temper cannot hold it.
Draft 1-3 degrees on vertical walls when geometry allows. Zero-draft stamps pack dough or lock wax. We will mark it before lock.
If you send a 3D-printed master, we still caliper. PLA that moves in a hot car is not a millimetre source of truth.
| Master source | Risk |
|---|---|
| STEP solid | Preferred |
| Owned physical sample | Caliper OD, depth, islands |
| Phone beauty shot | Depth compressed |
| Purchased Amazon tray | We will not copy |
Platinum pour and vacuum - why tin kits fail on restock

Tin hobby kits hide tear until order 40. Production sheets that see epoxy exotherm or sticky pectin need platinum and degas so a pit is not your logo.
We do not lock a marketing cycle-life number. We lock Shore after you name chemistry, wall mm, and whether the sheet must stack in a freezer or a resin rack.
Pour families we quote (not a steel materials encyclopedia)
CNC buyers pick alloys. Our analog is pour family plus peak C. A Shore number with no pour is ignored.
Chocolate / confectionery
Food-contact when eaten. Logo depth vs bar thickness. Temper is your process; we still need whether it is compound or couverture.
Resin / craft
Peak C and clear vs opaque. Show-through prints tray dust. Jewelry scale is not a coaster sheet.
Wax / candle
Melt C. Pillar undercuts lock. Tarts stick in the last 2 mm. Not food unless you said edible.
Soap / cosmetic-looking
CP vs MP. Lye lock vs island tear. Candy-look soap is still craft unless the SKU is eaten.
Gummy / pectin
Food path. Stick is not spray-first. Gram target if a label exists. Not a mogul nest.
Ice / frozen
Freeze expand washes shallow logos. Stick channel is first-class if it is a pop.
Failure modes we try to kill in CAD, not on restock
If the listing photo cannot lose 0.3-0.5 mm of undercut, write that. Otherwise we will recommend flatten and you will fight us after the sample.
| Failure | Usual fix |
|---|---|
| Hooked undercut one-piece | Split or flatten |
| Hairline letter islands | Meat on the island |
| Webs too thin on a 12-up | Widen or drop cavity count |
| Logo 0.25 mm on chocolate | Deeper or thicker bar |
| Units silent | Stop and name mm |
Catalog tray vs our sheet vs steel
We do not mud-sling storefronts. We do not pretend we are a steel shop. Pick the URL that matches the job.
| Path | When it fits |
|---|---|
| Catalog silicone | No brand cavity, no IP |
| RUUIPON sheet MOQ 20 | Brand SKU, prototype, restock |
| Steel / mogul | Plant volume, different lane |
| US storefront from-$X cart | UX speed, not millimetres |
What we measure on the sample sheet (not a CMM theater)
We caliper OD, depth, and island width against the locked millimetres. We look at flash, pits, and whether a logo that was 0.8 mm in CAD still reads after shrink. We do not publish a fake CMM report with 12 decimals on a floppy tray.
If your SKU needs grams, you weigh your pour. We will not sign a nutrition label. We will say if cavity-to-cavity look is even enough to continue.
A flash photo of the empty tray is not QC. A photo of your pour, flash on, islands in plane, is the reject list. See the test-cast service if you want that gate named as its own URL.
| Check | Who does it |
|---|---|
| Cavity OD / depth vs CAD | RUUIPON on the tray |
| Pits / degas leftovers | RUUIPON before we ship samples |
| Grams / label | You, with your fill |
| Color match of the candy | You. We tool cavities, not recipes |
When CAD reopens (and when it should not)
CAD lock is the start of the 3-7 day prototype band. It is also the line after which a new undercut, a units miss, or a 2 mm logo deepen is a reopen - not a free WhatsApp tweak.
Colorway-only, same millimetres: usually same cavity. New hook on a bail, new island on a stamp, new split: reopen. If ads are already live on a listing OD, say so. We would rather delay lock than fight a live inch title.
| Change | Lock status |
|---|---|
| Shore nudge after your first pour | Often same CAD |
| New undercut keep-or-flatten | Reopen |
| Inch vs mm caught late | Reopen |
| Pack carton only | Not a cavity reopen |
Lead time: 24h quote vs 3-7 days after lock
About 24 hours is a complete RFQ: mm, pour, peak C, food vs craft, OD or grams. A marble flat-lay does not start that clock.
Prototype commonly 3-7 business days after CAD lock - not after the first hello. Production MOQ 20 is after you approve the test cast, not after we like the render.
Drawing deposit about $50 USD when we must model cavities from a sketch or a sample. If you already send a clean STEP in mm, that line may not apply. We will say so on the quote.
What a silicone tray cannot do even if CNC is perfect
Zero-draft 8 mm letter islands will still tear. A hooked jewelry bail will still lock in a one-piece cookie-tray pull. Steel or a split is a different job - we will name it, we will not fake it.
We will not hold mill-style +/- 0.02 mm on a Shore A 20 sheet. Ask for a practical millimetre band. If your buyer is a plant with a depositor nest, that is not this URL.
Food-contact documentation is a quoting path, not a pour step. Do not mix FDA/LFGB language onto resin or candle tools.
What this service page is not
Not the generic /services/ overview. Not a blog. Not a 500-link header. Not WYD plant copy. Not a promise of 1-day CNC parts - we are not RapidDirect's CNC mill count, and we will not fake 700 machines.
We will not invent ISO theatre or headcount. Shenzhen since 2018, MOQ 20, prototype 3-7 after lock, quote ~24h on complete files - those stay consistent.

FAQ
Do you CNC my finished chocolate?
No. We CNC/cut the master path for the silicone tool you pour with.
Is prototype 3-7 days from first email?
No. From CAD lock. Incomplete files do not start that clock.
MOQ 20 of what?
Trays per design, not 20 packed consumer units.
Can you copy a tray I bought?
No. Your IP, files, or a master you own.
FDA-approved factory?
We will not write that. Food-contact docs may apply when quoted for edible use and market.
Tin-cure to save money?
We quote platinum for production sheets. Hobby tin is not our SKU.
Same as manufacturing capabilities page?
Capabilities is the shop overview. This page is the CAD-to-pour chain.
WYD plant nest?
Wrong lane. Do not treat this URL as a depositor quote.
Drawing deposit?
About $50 USD when we must model cavities.
Where is this in the header?
It is not. Open Process catalog. We will not crowd the top bar.
